Swiss hotel chain Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has ambitious plans to increase its portfolio in Asia-Pacific from one hotel now to more than 30 over the next five to seven years.Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts senior vice-president for Middle East and Asia-Pacific, Mr Andreas Mattmueller, told TTG Asia, the hotel chain, which has most of its 85 properties in Europe and the Middle East, “ideally plans to have at least one property in each key city and resort destination in Asia-Pacific”.Mr Mattmueller identified Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hong Kong as key cities, and Phuket, Bali and Koh Samui as key resorts. Japan, China and India were also part of the expansion blueprint, he said.
