On September 27, a seminar on how to apply IT solutions in promoting the development of the tourism industry was held in the central town of Hoi An.
The organiser of the seminar was the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
The seminar saw the participation of nearly 200 delegates from different travel agencies, government bodies throughout the country.
At the seminar, delegates discussed the necessity of applying information technology in the tourism industry in Vietnam. According to Mr Nguyen Phu Duc, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, there is no doubt about how critical it is to apply IT as part of the strategy to further promote the development of tourism.
Duc said that the government should earmark budget to support all travel agents in human resources training in IT field with the view to encouraging these travel agents to apply IT solutions in running their businesses.
Vietnam has many small- and medium-sized enterprises which are providing tourism services. For these companies, using IT to advertise their services has seemed a dream. However, these companies should take advantage of advertising their services on the government website, which is free of charge.
