All preparations for the 4th APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting (TMM) have been basically completed, said Tran Minh Ca, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, which will host the event in mid-October.
He affirmed that the authorities and people of Quang Nam province as well as of the ancient town of Hoi An, where the meeting will take place, have tried their best to ensure the success of the TMM. The locality has also got ready for cultural activities held during the event, including an APEC tourism fair, a cultural exchange programme between regions to introduce the land and people of Vietnam, and a photo exhibition. The official cited the fact that 1,000 tourists visited Hoi An town - a world cultural heritage site - in three days right after the locality was hard hit by typhoon Xangsane. In particular, a delegation of 120 Spanish visitors stayed at the five-star Palm Garden resort on Cua Dai beach which was hardest struck by the typhoon.
