CHINA - Super 8 China Opens 6 New Properties in September 2006

eTN, Oct. 3, 2006

One of the world's largest economy lodging operators, Super 8 Hotels officially opened six new China properties in September 2006.

Super 8 is now the largest foreign economy hotel operator in mainland China. The openings have also helped make its parent company, Wyndham Worldwide, China's largest foreign hotel operator by number of properties.

To support the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Super 8 opened three of its new hotels in the capital city of Beijing. Super 8 Hotel Beijing Bai Hua, Super 8 Hotel Beijing Yi Zhuang Tian Bao, and Super 8 Hotel Beijing Ju Feng. In Suzhou, Wuhan, and Nanchang, Super 8 Hotel Suzhou Hongde Shi Lu, Super 8 Hotel Wuhan Yangtze River Qing Shan, and Super 8 Hotel Nanchang Yi Tai also began receiving business and leisure travelers from around the world.

"This is the first time six hotels have been able to meet our stringent operating requirements in a single month," said Super 8 China CEO Mr. Mitchell A. Presnick. "These openings, part of a strategy of steady, controlled growth, will enable us to serve our Chinese and foreign guests even better. In September alone, we have doubled the number of our operating properties in Beijing, Suzhou and Wuhan. At the same time, we are continuing to expand into additional cities around China, such as Nanchang."

"We are happy that we have finally met the strict operations standards of Super 8," said Mr. Shao Xiguo, the General Manager of Super 8 Hotel Beijing Bai Hua. "As a publicly traded Chinese company, we wanted the strength that a publicly traded American hotel company could offer us."
